Japan
Household preparedness benchmark: minimum 3 days, preferably about 1 week.
Evidence classification: all-hazards household + national extreme-space-weather infrastructure evidence.
Dedicated household space-weather guidance: Partial.
What Japan actually establishes
Cabinet Office disaster guidance establishes household stockpiling for a minimum of three days, preferably about one week. Japan separately has a national extreme-space-weather scenario and operational monitoring supporting risks to communications, positioning, satellites, aviation and transport.
Three clocks
WARNING / MITIGATION
Operational monitoring and warnings exist; household stockpile guidance remains general disaster doctrine.
HOUSEHOLD AUTONOMY
Minimum three days, preferably about one week.
INFRASTRUCTURE RECOVERY
No one-month household stockpile benchmark is established.
Household preparedness
Official disaster guidance supports about 3 L of drinking water per person per day, food for at least three days and preferably about one week, medicines, cash, flashlight, portable radio with extra batteries, mobile charging, cassette stove or alternative cooking, blankets or body warmers, portable toilet and waste supplies, paper maps or offline evacuation information, important records and family disaster planning.
Infrastructure dependencies
Japan’s national extreme-space-weather scenario and monitoring system support infrastructure effects involving mobile communications, positioning and GNSS, satellite losses, aviation, shipping, power outages and transport.
Evidence limitations
- The three-day to one-week stockpile is general disaster doctrine, not space-weather-specific household guidance.
- Infrastructure recovery evidence does not create a longer household stockpile requirement.
- Do not represent the general disaster benchmark as a dedicated space-weather duration.
