COMPARE COUNTRIES
Nine national preparedness systems, compared on the same evidence standard.
This comparison reflects the strength and specificity of publicly available doctrine and evidence. It is not an overall judgment of national emergency capability.
High, Moderate and Low describe how specific the reviewed evidence is for that field. They are not scores. Where the project does not establish a claim, it remains unknown or not established.
Core comparison
| Country | Publication level | Household autonomy | Dedicated household space-weather guidance | Required public limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sweden | A · READY | At least 1 week | No dedicated household sequence | Space-weather household sequencing is not separately published; Swedish water number is adult-based. |
| Norway | A · READY | 1 week | No dedicated household sequence | Space-weather-specific household sequence is not separately published. |
| Finland | A · READY | At least 72 hours | No dedicated household sequence | Household doctrine is all-hazards; additional pet/cooking/hygiene water is not numerically quantified. |
| Denmark | A · READY | 3 days | No dedicated household sequence | Household doctrine is general crisis preparedness, not dedicated space-weather guidance. |
| Canada | A · READY | At least 72 hours | Yes | Dedicated space-weather advice exists; numeric federal water quantity is not established in the current structured source set. |
| New Zealand | A · READY | 3 days or more | Partial | Household quantities come from Get Ready; NEMA Version 2.0 governs national space-weather response rather than household stockpile amounts. |
| Japan | A · READY | Minimum 3 days; preferably about 1 week | No dedicated household stockpile doctrine | Household stockpile duration is general disaster doctrine, not space-weather-specific. |
| United Kingdom | B · READY with limitation | A few days; non-numeric | No dedicated household timetable | Household timetable is all-hazards/SFI-structured, not official space-weather doctrine; sector responsibilities vary. |
| United States | B · READY with limitation | General federal emergency preparedness; no dedicated space-weather duration | No dedicated household timetable | Federal strategy, forecasting and exercise evidence is space-weather-specific; household preparedness remains general all-hazards. |
Evidence specificity
The classifications below come from the project Comparison Matrix. Infrastructure interdependency planning is shown separately from household preparedness so strong system planning is not mistaken for strong household doctrine.

How to read the comparison
- Household autonomy is the jurisdiction’s own supported preparedness benchmark where one exists.
- Explicit space-weather public guidance is broader than household doctrine and can include national strategies, warning systems or response plans.
- Infrastructure interdependency planning supports system-level claims. It does not automatically create household requirements.
- Unknown / Not Established remains unknown. Solar Flare Innovations does not fill gaps with another country’s rules.
