What the United States actually establishes
The United States has a mature federal space-weather strategy, operational forecasting, infrastructure-resilience evidence and national preparedness testing. The current project uses the 2023 Implementation Plan of the National Space Weather Strategy and Action Plan as the current strategy implementation source. Household preparedness remains general Ready.gov/FEMA doctrine rather than a dedicated federal household space-weather duration.

WARNING / MITIGATION
NOAA warning capability exists and federal mitigation planning is strong, but no dedicated public household time-phased space-weather sequence is established in the reviewed source set.
HOUSEHOLD AUTONOMY
Use only current general federal household preparedness. Do not assign a space-weather-specific 72-hour, week or month duration without evidence.
INFRASTRUCTURE RECOVERY
Federal, state and local response may continue beyond the household supply period without establishing a longer household stockpile target.
Household preparedness
Current federal household preparedness should be taken from Ready.gov/FEMA all-hazards planning and supplies. The current structured project source set does not assign space-weather-specific numeric requirements for water, food, medication, cash, lighting, charging, backup power, navigation or other household categories.
Infrastructure dependencies
The federal source set supports geomagnetic-disturbance, electrical-grid, communications, GNSS, aviation, forecasting, mitigation and national-continuity analysis. A 2025 national space-weather simulation exercise provides current evidence of multi-level government and critical-infrastructure preparedness testing.
Evidence limitations
- Federal space-weather strategy, forecasting and preparedness testing are space-weather-specific; household preparedness remains general all-hazards.
- No dedicated federal household space-weather duration is established in the current source set.
- The 2016 White House material is retained only for historical evolution and is superseded for current-strategy use by the 2023 implementation plan.
- Infrastructure recovery must not be converted into a household stockpile duration without direct evidence.
